GROUP THINK | ALLEGIANCE

MONDAY, OCTOBER 3 @ 5:15 PM

SONS OF NORWAY TROLL LOUNGE

A public conversation about ALLEGIANCE with Michael Yellow Bird, professor of sociology and director, indigenous tribal studies, NDSU, and citizen, Three Affiliated Tribes, and Josh Zeis, veteran, Iraq war, and artist. Moderated by Christina Weber Knopp, associate professor of sociology, NDSU, and principal investigator, Project Unpack: Telling Stories, Creating Community: Understanding the Legacies of War at Home.

Who or what do you pledge allegiance to? (How) do your allegiances align or conflict with each other? How do you prioritize your allegiances? How do your allegiances influence your choices? What have you sacrificed because of your allegiances? Can you be both critical and loyal at the same time? How do you negotiate a sense of allegiance with a state of disenfranchisement? What do your allegiances require you to stand for or against?

Reserve your seat at the table via Eventbrite.

RSVP on Facebook.

A fast-paced format eliciting the insight, experience and curiosity of everyone in the room and blurring the roles of speaker / audience –

20 MINUTES of conversation between two speakers followed by

20 MINUTES of Q&A and group conversation and

20 MINUTES of conversation at tables.
